WELCOME TO BOURNE PEST CONTROL
I’m Matt Avison and I have been providing pest control services to the people and businesses of Bourne and surrounding areas for many years.
The pest control service I offer is comprehensive and high quality, which I believe is as a result of several combining factors:
I am an avid outdoor enthusiast with a love of many outdoor sports, including fishing, walking and pheasant shoots. In fact, I now run a local pheasant shoot. I understand that the ecological balance of our countryside and environment is a fragile balance, and it does not take much to knock this balance off-centre.
Likewise, I also respect this ecological balance and neither will I cause (or sanction) unnecessary suffering to any animal – and that includes pests!
Continuing Professional Development
Nature is constantly evolving and adapting to overcome obstacles and failings. Bedbugs, for example, are becoming increasingly common in the UK for 2 reasons – increased travel such as foreign holidays and their increasing resistance to various chemical treatments; this is evolution of the bedbug! Being qualified does not mean completing one course; as a pest control technician I need to maintain and further my knowledge of methods, practices, treatments and legislation. I do this in a number of ways:
Level 2 ‘Pest Control & Management’ certificate from the Royal Society of Public Health (RSPH)
Completing specialist courses – insect identification, additional rodent control, bird proofing techniques, gassing techniques and certification, wasp nest removal and use of pesticides
I am a member of the trade body for pest control operatives, the British Pest Control Association (BPCA), helping to professionalise and set industry standards of practice.
I hold a full firearms and shotgun certificate
This highlights my commitment to offer all my customers, domestic and business, a professional pest control service. All my work is insured as I carry Public Liability Insurance, up to the value of £5 million.
Name the pest and I can (and will) deal with it!
There are all manner of pests out there; all types, shapes and sizes. There are not many that I have not dealt with – wasps, birds, rats, mice, squirrels, foxes, silverfish, woodworm, rabbits, beetles, spiders, fleas, bedbugs, ants, moths, cockroaches and many, many more.
In Lincolnshire, moles can be a big problem in residential areas for several reasons:
Loss of habitat or restrictions in how moles can access and use it.
Moles are woodland creatures, but as urban buildings begin to sprawl into woods and countryside, the habitat of the mole is under threat.
This is the adding of rich feeds and fertilisers that create rich soils. This attracts worms, the mole’s favourite food. Hence, artificially landscaped areas can soon have a molehill problem.
Unreliable mole control methods
Moles are not creates that breed quickly or extensively but various gadgets and remedies on the market all claim to successfully discourage moles away from areas – such as your garden – but the only effective mole control method is to humanely trap and relocate the mole.
A success story...
Bees live under a myth here in the UK; many people believe that bees are protected and should a bee colony wish to make their hive in your garden, there is nothing you can can do about it. NOT TRUE!
I can remove bee hives or nests but, as the bee has such a valuable role to play in our finely balanced ecology, I don’t terminate bees. Instead I re-home them in my apiary. This is one big bee yard, where I know have around 12 beehives in which the honey bees live comfortably and happily.
Just look who I have helped over the years...
