Guano clean up in Swansea Town Hill, SA1 - October 2022

Called out to the new housing development at the old university, we worked with a Local building company to remove, Proof and clean up pigeon Guano in the buildings before construction team could come in and complete their work properly. We managed to get up into the roof spaces and proof two turrets from the inside which saved getting expensive lifting equipment in to give us access to the outside of the turrets. After cleaning all floors we sprayed any affected areas with a biocide so construction teams could move in safely to do their work.

Bees nest removal in Swansea, Clydach, SA6 - March 2022

As a company we where very excited to get something a bit different in been asked to move a bee hive from the side of a canal footpath. The tree had been felled and it ended up having a bee hive in a section of trunk so it had to be moved as it was a risk to members of the public walking and cycling past. We did this all at night to save as many of the bees from the colony as possible and we would reduce the risk to ourselves and members of the public. Dud to the size of the log we needed a Quad and trailer to get the job done and took myself and Nick about 3 hours from door to door. We moved the hive to a farm in Carmarthenshire not far for the river Towy where the bees should feel at home. Don’t worry they are well above flood level lines. As you can see in the photos takes up a lot of space in the van we then used a tractor to help relocate it in the same orientation that we picked it up from.

Pennard moles - February 2022

Moles are coming back with a vengeance and are one of my most common pests at the current time of year. The rain had slowed them down a bit but in the sandy Gower the water disappears very quickly and they keep busy. This client calls Pestforce Swansea every few months due to them coming out of the hedge rows and from the field behind the house. If you have any issues with moles call for a quote. 

Squirrel control in Brynhyfryd, Swansea, SA5, December 2021

Called to a customer who had wondered what the noise in her roof was for a few weeks had put live mice traps in her roof only to have them chewed up and destroyed to remove the peanut butter. She then used a motion detector camera which was to re-veal squirrels coming into her roof. She had only seen two at a time so we put two traps up there to catch two in the first 24 hours but unfortunate the camera revealed another two more so we had to reset the traps on return to catch the remaining squirrels. We did.

Swansea Rat control Expert, SA1, November 2021

After a client googled Pest control Swansea they found our website and called because large amount of good reviews. They were very pleased I could come that day they were about to go into hospital for the birth of their third child. I found a nest of medium size rats in behind the washing machine which sadly invaded capture after darting into boiler cupboard and disappearing. I inspected property and found a large shrub tight against the single story extension which I asked the client to cut down during the week before I returned. Before leaving we treated house for rats. A week later a beautiful baby girl had joined the house hold and they hadn’t heard or seen a rat for about 3-4 days. I inspected where Dad had cut down the large shrub against the house and found where rats where getting in under a tile between the gutter where they had chewed a through the facia. Sealed up the hole and retreated house just in case one was left inside. I returned two weeks later to find no evidence of any rats confirming that I had solved the issue with in the first 3-4 days.

Hornet control in Clydach, Swansea, SA6, September 2021

A client went to store some hay for a pony in a shed they hadn’t used for quite some time and came across a hornets nest. After having a go at it him-self and getting stung he decided to call Pest force after reading some good reviews online. After arriving we quickly sorted the issue allowing him to get on with using its shed for its intended purpose.

Swansea Wasp Nest Removal, SA4, Pontarddulais, August 2021

Called to a customers house after he thought the wasps had got a bit to numerous in his work shop and was scared of them stinging one of the next door neighbours kids. The wasps where very calm as they where use to the customer in his workshop and didn't see him as a threat. It was a shame to treat them really as they had built a fantastic nest which had become bigger then a basketball and could get with in 1m of the nest and they where not bothered at all. Treated with insecticide dust and let the wasps do the rest of the work and spread it through the nest. The wasps where gone by the end of the next day leaving the nest behind. 

Flea Control for Landlord, SA1 Swansea, August 2021

A local letting agent contacted us via the Pestforce Pest Control Swansea website. The customer reported that during the house inspection, fleas were jumping and bitting the agents legs and ankles. Once we arrived at the property we could see that the previous tenant had a pet cat. Cat fleas are very active during the summer months and can get out of control quickly. The property was treated for fleas making it free from fleas for the new tenant.

Bee hive removal, SA4 Pontlliw, June 2021

The house owners had had a bee hive in roof space for many years and this year it had swarmed twice already and had enough. Pestforce visited assessing whether we could do it on our own without builders or scaffolding and it was decided we could do it from our ladders. It took Nick and I over 6 hours to remove. We first removed some ridge tiles before removing the tiles then batons and felt to reveal the hive. It was a very large colony with 4 sections between the roof beams. We transferred the bulk of the hives into nucs and any unused hive we also removed for our bee keeper to use for other things. We replaced the roof and sealed it up making sure no more bees could gain access. We handed over the hive to our beekeeper to complete all that needs to be done for the hive.

Moth Treatment in Swansea, SA1 -  April 2021

After a worried holiday rental owner called Pestforce for pest control advice on an insect infestation in their apartment they were not ready for what we found under all the furniture. I identified the carpet moth as soon as I walked through the door and found a large infestation under the carpets in the closets and under the beds and furniture. The moth had happily made the wool carpet their home. Luckily the bulk of the damage was done in the carpet which was laid underneath the carpet in the closets instead of underlay so I just removed this from the property. I treated the rest of the carpets with a spray and killed off the live moths with a fog. It will need monitoring for the next month but hopefully all has be sorted for the tenant to resume renting it out post covid.

Bee relocation in Swansea, SA8,  Cilmaengwyn - April 2021

This month has seen an explosion of bee activity and this is one of many calls I have had on bee removal. This job took two of us 5 hours to remove. We had to remove the roof tiles batons and felt to gain access to the hive. We then removed the hive transferring it into a bee nuc. After this we repaired the felt and batons before replacing the tiles. That evening I took the bees to my beekeeper who has transferred them into a hive which they are still active doing there stuff.  

Rats in sewer system in Swansea, SA6 - March 2021

A customer from Morriston Swansea that had been having problems the with rats called Pestforce after having many problems with them for over 10 years. Not one pest controller had gone to the trouble to look for of find a hole in the wall under the paving stones which took me less then 30 minutes to find after putting a hose down the back of the drain and seeing water flow into the drain under the man hole cover showing me where they where accessing from. After this I removed pavers around the drain locating the hole in the wall which I filled with cement before replacing the pavers as level as the day they where laid. 

Ants in Swansea, SA6 - Februrary 2021

Ants in January. I didn’t believe it when I had the call but sure enough true to the customers word the house was full of ants and after all the cold weather I was shocked. I treated with insect dust and asked the Client to reseal gaps around skirting boards where sealant had split and letting them through. Plan to return and use baits which hopefully the ants take down into there nests and we get on top of this before the summer.

Mice trouble in Swansea, SA5 - January 2021

With the cold weather I have had more and more mice jobs come in and it’s amazing to see how some field mice can create so much noise for the occupants. This Job the mice had become well established and possibly had come in the previous winter and the population had grown quite considerably consuming nearly a kg of bait over a 4 week period before the population stopped taking bait from the bait trays. I blocked many small holes on the side of the brick work that potentially could let mice in but the main hole I found was some diggings which went under the conservatory which they had possibly use to go In and out of the cavity gaining access to the roof space. We blocked this hole with a wet cement mix that we could get down under the bricks. I also put another air vent on for the client that was used for an exhaust fan.

Rodent infestation in Swansea - December 2020

Visiting a Client that had a seen a couple of rats in her kitchen after coming down in the mornings was at her wits end and Calling for good Pest Control in Swansea she was lucky enough to get me ?? and as carpenter in a previous life this came in handy for this job. I arrived late in the evening as it was getting dark so didn’t have much light to work with but I surveyed the rear of the building which like many terrace houses had a single story extension at the rear with the kitchen in it. One side was up against a fence she shared with one of her neighbours but with a head torch I could see a couple of holes where the flat roof meat the wall and the builder had left out a couple of small angled bricks which the rats had found. To fix this issue we had to remove the fence as couldn’t get to holes any other way. The poor lady was petrified of the rats so I pushed back a couple of jobs I had the next morning to return to remove the fence and block up what the builder thought would be fine to leave out. This was done and within 24hours of getting the call, I have solved her rat problems for good as she is yet to see any more rats or signs of rats since fixing the holes.  

Wasps nest in Swansea, SA3 - November 2020

I was called to a wasp nest which was a surprise to me this late in the season after arriving I found quite an active nest with many worker wasps still flying in and out. This wasn’t really the thing annoying my client it was the huge number of wasps coming into the bedroom upstairs. I went to investigate to find the bedroom full of freshly hatched queen wasps which obviously decided not to use the main exit. These queens are meant to leave the nest before going to hibernate over the winter to starting their own nest next season. Sadly for them and my client they had entered his bedroom leaving it uninhabitable he filled his vacuum cleaner a few times over the coming days. I treated the main exit of the nest with insecticide dust which the wasps drag through the nest killing the rest of the wasps, this did the job and the client only had one more day of wasps before the nest stopped been active.

Moles in Swansea, SA3 - November 2020

Was Called to visit a client with immaculate laws at the front but unfortunately for him a mole or two had decided to make runs up the lawn in several locations coming from the Hedge bank that runs along the road. As the moles where coming from the bank there wasn’t actually any mole hills to judge how many moles there are just runs pushing into the lawn. This didn’t stop us. We set the traps and off we went. I have passed the clients house a couple of times now on the way to other jobs and we have two moles and counting in just one week. I expected moles to reduce in activity a month ago as they go deeper into the ground to keep warm as soil temperature drops but still seeing them about. I even have one in my own garden at the moment yet to come onto the lawn as he is sticking to the hedge at the moment but I’m waiting.

Rats in Roof, SA5 - October 2020

Asked to go to a house as electrician said to the client you have rats in roof and didn't want to proceed with his job. Find a massive infestation of rats which over time had turned insulation in roof into a maze of tunels and runs. It reeked of rat urine and faeces and was just unhealthy to anyone going into roof. So I suited up and masked up to clean roof of insulation.

Rats in Swansea, SA3 - October 2020

In a block of apartments that should be rat free one of the occupants was disturbed by a rat that ran from behind her fridge into the cupboard under the sink then disappeared. After an inspection I found a large hole behind the work cabinets which had clearly been gnawed at by rats, they had also removed a lot of expanding foam which had made quite a mess. The hole led into a large duct system that ran up the building supplying the apartments above with their services (water, sewage electricity) as you could clearly see all these running through the hole. As there was no evidence of rats living in the apartment its self and I had no way to access all other apartments to inspect building I took the decision not to bait at all but to seal up the hole not allowing rats or any other rodents to enter. There has been no more access to the apartment and client is happy to be rat free.

Squirrels in Swansea, SA6 - September 2020

Pestforce Pest Control Swansea were called to a clients place in Clydach with complaints of a Squirrel in the roof. I fixed a couple of holes that where possible entry points before going on to fix a leaking drain under a sink only to hear a noise in the roof space. I Investigate and only found some food waste which was just dropped as was not there earlier. I thought rats as it wasn’t something I would associate with a squirrel so I put down some tracking dust and rat traps finish fixing the leaky sink and was saying good bye to the customer when sure enough a noise in the roof again. I quickly moved up the stairs only to find the exhaust ducting from the bathroom fans moving. I quickly grabbed the ducting trapping the Pest inside a Y Joint before removing the ducting and finding I had trapped a massive male Gray Squirrel inside. I remove the pest. I booked in with the client to replace all the air vents in the eve of the building which are falling out due to age and cracking.

Wasp Nest Removal in Garden Shed - Swansea, SA1 - 09/09/2020

Pestforce Pest Control Swansea arrived to location to find some angry wasps as client had moved their nest which was in a box in the shed. The Client had bravely moved the box onto the lawn which made the situation worse as now the wasps where flying around looking for their nest and in the shed. I had to treat two locations the shed and the nest in the box. After treatment I gave it some time before removing the contents of the box and then bagging up the box and nest and taking it away.
