Pest Problems in Ilkley, Otley and the Surrounding Area
A pest problem might begin with a noise, a damaged packet of food or insects appearing in the same place each day. Those small signs can help reveal what is happening.
I work with different types of properties, from homes and gardens to workshops, shops, farms and outbuildings. Each requires an assessment of the activity and the conditions around it.
Rodents in homes and buildings
Rats and mice can exploit access points and settle where food and shelter are available. I investigate the evidence and consider how they are reaching the affected areas.
Insects indoors
Ants, fleas, bed bugs, moths and cockroaches need different approaches. Correct identification and finding the source are important parts of planning effective treatment.
Wasps around the property
Wasps repeatedly entering a roof, shed or wall cavity may indicate a nest. I can assess the location and advise on suitable treatment.
Pests around farms and rural land
Feed stores, livestock areas and agricultural buildings can provide opportunities for pest activity. My farming background helps me understand how control measures need to fit around the working site.
Bird and wildlife problems
Squirrels in lofts, pigeons around buildings and rabbit damage on land can all require specialist assessment. I explain suitable options based on the circumstances.
Pests can affect well-kept properties. Asking for help early gives us the opportunity to understand the problem before it becomes harder to manage.

How I Look After Your Pest Problem
Tell me what you have noticed
Your first call comes directly to me. I’ll ask about the signs, where they are appearing and whether anything has changed recently.
You don’t need to identify the pest beforehand. A description, and photographs where useful, can help us decide what to do next.
Arrange an inspection where needed
If a visit is required, I’ll assess the affected areas and look for evidence of activity, possible access routes and conditions that may be supporting the pests.
Understand the proposed work
I explain my findings and the treatment I recommend. You’ll know the cost before work starts, along with any preparation required.
If the problem is likely to need more than one visit, I’ll explain why.
Receive carefully planned treatment
I take account of children, pets, livestock and other people using the property. You’ll receive instructions about any precautions and what to expect afterwards.
Get a clear record of the visit
After each visit, I provide a digital treatment report detailing the work carried out and my recommendations.
Keep in touch directly
You’ll have my mobile number while I’m managing the problem. If you notice further activity or want to check something between visits, you can contact me.
Where follow-up is needed, I’ll explain what we are monitoring and the next stage of the work.

Meet Henry Robinson
I’m Henry Robinson, and I bring a farming background and a personal approach to my work with Pestforce.
I spent 15 years in farm management before moving into pest control. Working around livestock, agricultural buildings and stored feed gave me practical experience of the environments where pests can become established.
It also taught me the value of observation, prevention and keeping clear records. In 2019, I was named Farm Worker of the Year, an achievement that means a great deal to me.
My dad owns Pestforce Hull and East Riding, so pest control is also part of my family background. I have seen how a local reputation develops through reliable work, honest advice and looking after customers properly.
Although I was born in Wiltshire and grew up in different parts of the country, Yorkshire is where I feel at home. I spent around eight years here growing up and have lived in North Yorkshire for the past seven years.
I live with my partner, our two children and our dogs, Agatha the Labrador and Tucker the Jack Russell. Outside work, I enjoy hiking on the moors, camping, clay pigeon shooting, rugby and old war films.
When I visit your home or business, you can expect someone who listens, explains the options and is determined to get to the bottom of the problem.

Pest Control Services in Ilkley and Otley
I provide professional pest control and prevention advice for domestic, commercial and agricultural properties.
The first step is to establish what is responsible and where the activity is concentrated. From there, I can recommend an appropriate treatment plan.
Rat Control Ilkley and Otley
A rat seen outside may be passing through, but repeated sightings, burrows or droppings warrant a closer look.
I inspect the activity and assess potential food sources, shelter and access into nearby buildings. Inside a property, signs can include gnawing, damaged packaging and scratching noises.
My recommendations address the infestation and the conditions supporting it. Depending on the findings, that may include control measures, proofing advice and changes to waste or feed storage.
With my agricultural experience, I understand the particular challenges of rat activity around farms and outbuildings.
If rats are causing concern at your Ilkley or Otley property, call 01943 619 025.
Mouse Control Ilkley and Otley
A few droppings in a cupboard or scratching behind the skirting board may be your first indication of mice.
Because they can use narrow gaps and concealed spaces, the visible signs may only tell part of the story.
I investigate where the mice are active and look for possible routes into the property. I’ll explain suitable treatment options and advise on practical steps such as protecting food supplies and addressing accessible gaps.
Contact me for help with mice in homes, rental properties and business premises across Ilkley and Otley.
Squirrel Control Ilkley and Otley
If you can hear pronounced movement in the loft during the day, grey squirrels may be responsible.
They can damage insulation and timber, and their habit of chewing can affect cables and other materials in the roof space.
I assess the evidence to identify the animal involved and investigate likely entry points. I then explain appropriate control options and recommendations for reducing further access.
Call 01943 619 025 if you suspect squirrels have entered your roof.
Wasp Nest Treatment Ilkley and Otley
Wasps coming and going from one particular opening can indicate a nest concealed inside a building or another sheltered location.
Before recommending treatment, I assess the position, the activity and the practical access to the nest.
I’ll explain the work, any precautions you need to take and what to expect afterwards.
Avoid disturbing a suspected nest while you are deciding what to do.
For wasp nest treatment in Ilkley or Otley, call me on 01943 619 025.
Ant Control Ilkley and Otley
Ant activity can seem minor at first, then become a regular nuisance around kitchens, doorways and food storage areas.
I look at the pattern of activity, likely nesting areas and how the ants are entering.
The treatment recommendation depends on the problem identified. I’ll also explain how reducing food residues and other attractants can help support control.
If ants are repeatedly appearing indoors, give me a call.
Flea Treatment Ilkley and Otley
Once fleas have spread into carpets and furnishings, treating the pet alone may leave activity in the property.
I assess the problem and explain how to prepare the affected areas for treatment. Where animals are involved, appropriate pet treatment needs to be coordinated with the work in the home.
You’ll receive guidance about what to do afterwards and what you may notice as the infestation is brought under control.
Fleas can also become apparent in properties that have been empty, so a problem does not necessarily begin with your own pets.
Call 01943 619 025 to discuss suspected flea activity.
Bed Bug Treatment Ilkley and Otley
Finding possible bed bugs can be worrying, but confirming the cause is the first step.
I inspect sleeping areas for evidence such as live insects, shed skins and dark marks around mattress seams or bed frames. Bites alone cannot establish that bed bugs are present.
If activity is confirmed, I explain the recommended treatment, preparation and any follow-up required.
Bed bugs can travel with luggage, furniture and belongings. Their presence is not a reflection of your housekeeping.
For discreet help with bed bugs in Ilkley or Otley, contact me on 01943 619 025.
Fly Control Ilkley and Otley
Repeated fly activity often indicates a source that needs attention.
The species involved can help point towards drains, waste, animal areas, stored materials or other breeding sites.
I investigate where the flies are developing and recommend suitable measures to address the problem. This may involve treatment alongside improvements to cleaning, waste handling or the surrounding environment.
I help with fly infestations in homes, farms and commercial premises.
Cockroach Control Ilkley and Otley
Cockroaches can shelter in cracks, service spaces and areas around appliances, making the extent of an infestation difficult to judge without inspection.
I assess the signs, likely hiding places and sources of food and moisture.
You’ll receive a clear explanation of the treatment and supporting measures needed. For businesses, I take account of the way the premises operate when planning the work.
If you have found an insect you think may be a cockroach, call me to discuss identification and inspection.
Moth Control Ilkley and Otley
Damage to a wool carpet or clothing requires a different investigation from moths appearing around food cupboards.
I assess the insects and affected materials to establish the likely species and source.
The recommendations may include treatment, cleaning, improved storage and monitoring, depending on the findings.
Locating the infestation helps avoid repeatedly treating the visible moths while the source remains.
For moth problems in Ilkley or Otley, call 01943 619 025.
Beetle and Stored Product Pest Control
Beetles and other stored product insects can develop in food, animal feed and associated storage areas.
I inspect the affected stock and surroundings to understand the likely pest and spread of the activity.
My experience in farm management helps me assess these problems in working agricultural settings, as well as domestic and commercial stores.
I’ll recommend appropriate control and explain any changes to storage, cleaning or stock handling that could help prevent further problems.
Contact me if you are finding insects in stored food or feed.
Pigeon Control Ilkley and Otley
Pigeons using a building for roosting or nesting can leave substantial fouling around ledges, entrances and walkways.
Nesting material can also create problems in gutters and sheltered parts of the roof.
I assess how the birds are using the site and advise on suitable management or proofing options. Any proposed work takes account of the circumstances and relevant wildlife legislation.
Call 01943 619 025 for advice about pigeon activity around your property.
Gull Control Ilkley and Otley
Gulls around buildings can cause persistent noise and mess. Where nesting takes place, their behaviour may also make nearby areas uncomfortable to use.
I assess the birds, location and activity before explaining what options may be available.
Recommendations depend on the species and situation, with wildlife protections considered as part of the assessment.
If gulls are causing difficulties at your home or business, get in touch for advice.
Rabbit Control Ilkley and Otley
Rabbit activity can affect planting, crops, paddocks and landscaped grounds. Burrowing may also interfere with how land is used and maintained.
I assess the damage and population activity in the context of the site.
My agricultural background helps me understand the practical impact on farms and rural properties, and I can explain control options appropriate to the land and circumstances.
For help managing rabbit damage around Ilkley or Otley, call 01943 619 025.
Fox Control and Advice
Fox activity does not always require intervention, but repeated fouling, disturbed bins or problems around livestock can justify an assessment.
I look at what is attracting the animals and whether changes to access, shelter or food availability could help.
I’ll explain practical, lawful management options based on the issue you are experiencing.
If foxes are creating a persistent nuisance, call me to talk it through.
Help Identifying Other Pests
Sometimes the only clue is a noise, unexplained damage or an insect you have never seen before.
Tell me where you found it and what has been happening. Photographs may help, or I can arrange an inspection where needed.
