Pigeon spikes for an alley in Wimbledon – January 2022

Pestforce Pest Control Wimbledon was called out to a residential client in Wimbledon as they were having troubles with pigeons roosting on a side alley connected to their property. Other companies were unable to undertake the work due to challenges relating to how narrow the alleyway was. We offered an affordable solution that did not involve scaffolding. Our thorough survey revealed that with the help of a hydraulic support platform and scissor lift with unique specifications to work in a restricted area. Initially, we carried out an environmental clean- removing the pigeon fouling and then disinfecting the area with a biocide treatment. Then we set about installing the interventions with the bird deterrents including bird spikes, bird-free gel and weld mesh. This combination of bird proofing measures has stopped the pigeons from accessing their preferred roosting site. A follow-up call 7 days later revealed still no pigeons seen. The client was very impressed and so glad they chose us.

Rodent issue in drains in Wimbledon, SW19, 15th September 2021

Pestforce Pest Control Wimbledon have recently started another rodent investigation in Wimbledon. Following an initial telephone conversation it is possible that the the client has recently experienced the outcome of a dead rat possibly under the kitchen floor with a really nasty smell followed by an infestation of flies described by the client as greenish-blue in colour. On inspection the smell has subsided however there is no evidence of rodent activity inside the property although the client reports seeing a rodent once in the kitchen area which was small. Checked the drainage chamber where possible evidence of rat activity was identified. It is worth noting that the drainage system on the property services several flats and that the clients drain in situated at the end of the run. Drains have been blocked in recent months following the flooding which has occurred in this area recently. So far to help our investigation we have dropped nontoxic bait on a wire into the drainage chamber to check for rat activity in the drainage chamber. More to follow. 

Erradication of rodents in Wimbledon, SW19, 18th August 2021

Pestforce Pest Control Wimbledon have just begun another rodent riddance programme for a home in Wimbledon. On inspection, the tenant reported seeing rats in the garden regularly. As the garden is decked which provides haven for rats to shelter. There are no long term evidence of rats nesting/burrowing under the decking however there appears to be an obvious track left by rodents coming from a nearby drainage chamber. So far we have started the treatment with a non toxic bait on a wire in the hole and placed four bait boxes containing rodenticide under the decking. We recommend the drainage chamber lid is freed so inspection on next visit can take place. Fingers crossed for a quick ressolution to a nasty rodent problem. 

Cockroach control in Wimbledon, SW19, 1st August 2021

Pestforce Pest Control Wimbledon have just finished treating a home in Wimbledon for a mediocre cockroach infestation. Our treatment has been focussed on both internal and external areas in safe and secure areas. The cockroach erradication treatment was fully effective 2 visits. The problem is no more and the family who live there are finally no longer stressed about living with a family of cockroaches. 

Ant treatment in Wimbledon, SW19, 17th July 2021

Pestforce Pest Control Wimbledon treated a large scale ant problem in a client's kitchen area. The ants had been seen in the kitchen area near a step emerging from under tiling. We treated nest with gel bait directly into gaps as client has a puppy making it unsafe to use ant pods. A follow up is due in a week's time to ensure the problem has been fully dealt with. 

Moth treatment in Wimbledon, SW19, 20th June 2021

Pestforce Pest Control Wimbledon treated a house moth infestation last week. On inspection moths were evident in three bedrooms. Moth monitors in the bedrooms showed a reasonable infestation however many moths were seen flying in the communal areas suggesting they the infestation in the property possibly began in this area. Treated communal area and three bedrooms with insecticidal spray concentrating on wall/floor junctions and under furniture where larvae are found. Moth monitors were left for the bedrooms and communal area. The client was very happy with our service and is now living moth free. 

Rats under floorboards in Wimbledon, SW20, 10th May 2021

Pestforce Pest Control Wimbledon attended  for rodent survey in Wimbledon. Property occupants had reported hearing suspected rat activity. On our inspection, there was evidence of damage to electrical wiring from rodent activity and historic mice droppings identified underneath the flooring in the kitchen/living room area. We also carried out an internal and external search for rodent carcasses and removed any found from the site. Our next steps are to deploy good nature rats traps underneath the wooden floor under the house to get to the bottom of the infestation.

Pigeon proofing in Wimbledon - Bird poo cleaning, SW19, 11th April 2021

Pestforce Pest Control Wimbledon recently carried out a survey of a property having issues with pigeons nesting above the bay window of their property in Wimbledon. After our survey and proposed quote being agreed, we set about initially cleaning all the pigeon guano (poo) and treating with biocide to remove pathogens. Once the area was cleaned and safe to work in, our technician fitted bird spikes to the guttering to prevent the pigeons from resting on this area. The property has been pigeon free since. A good days work and another happy customer. 

Wimbledon Pest Control Surveys and Drain Surveys, SW19, 2nd April 2021

Pestforce Pest Control Wimbledon have recently been called to several jobs where customers have been reporting scurrying and scrathing noises in their walls and ceiling voids. This can be really hard to determine exactly what the cause is as access to these spaces can be very limited however there are always ways that we can investigate and try to find the cause using our pest control experience and expertise. Using a process of elimination we can check for the most common causes including house mice and rats. For example, by inspecting drainage systems to see if rats are ingressing the property via the pipework. We recently had a job where we have no evidence to work on except the nosies described the client. Our only option was to discreetly drill an inspection hole into the area where the activity was being heard to allow passing of a specialist inspection camera to see inside the void. On inspection with the camera, the technician was able to see mouse droppings. This allowed us to rule out rats and make the decision in consultation with the client to install bait (rodenticide) into the cavity to impact the mouse population affected the property. 

Dead Rat Removal in Wimbledon, SW20, 30th March 2021

Pestforce Pest Control Wimbledon attended a small basement flat due to reports of an unpleasant odour which the customer wanted us to investigate. On arrival, our team of pest experts immediately knew the odour was the recognisable smell of a deceased rat. the odour was traced to under the lounge floor at the front of the property. Following some minor works to lift the floorboards, the carcass of the rat was recovered. the area has been treated with a biocide to neutralise the general odour and pathogens. The client was extremely relieved as they were considering moving out due to the horrendous smell. While on site, the team carried out a free of charge pest survey to try and establish how the rat had got into the property's building fabric. This was not clear, however we suspect the ingress point may be from the drainage system.  At this stage we have installed test bait in the drains and tracking dust under the house to help us hopefully confirm and make further recommendations to prevent this from happening again. 

Call Your Local Insect Specialists in Wimbledon, SW19, 27th March 2021

Pestforce Pest Control Wimbledon were called by a lady who reported an insect problem. The customer was asking for a second opinion because another service provider who struggled to determine the insect species on inspection. We were able to send our insect expert, Alison, the same day who was able to thoroughly inspect the property for any high risk possible insect species (examples include bed bugs, fleas, mites or even carpet beetles). Alison was unable to find any adult insects but did find the droppings, eggs and shedded casings from bed bugs in and around the bed structure. Now having the correct diagnosis, we have arranged to carry out a bed bug treatment next week to erradicate what is a very light infestation. While on site, Alison gave the lady reassurance and as much information as possible about what is now her enemy. Working together we can get the desired outcome. 

Squirrel Control in Wimbledon Goes Wrong After DIY Treatment with Broken Glass Shards - SW19, Wimbledon, 24th March 2021

Our Wimbledon squirrel controllers were called to a landlord because whose tenants advised that squirrels were getting into the roof. The tenants advised that the landlord had a roofer attend recently who tried to fix the problem by sealing the hole in the roof with expanding foam with broken glass inside! This is considered totally inappropriate and is not going to be capable of stopping such animals. Our first actions were to remove the foam and broken glass to prevent and further injury or distress to these wild animals. We were then able to install professional humane squirrel traps in the roof space to catch and remove the squirrels. All five squirrels were caught and removed within 72 hours. The traps were then left for a further 24 hours to confirm no further squirrel activity was present at this point. Our Wimbledon squirrel control team were then able to repair the entry point in the fascia board using appropriate materials including weld mesh and weatherboard. This would prevent any new squirrels gaining access to the property, whilst not injuring any animals. We ask all our potential customers, whatever you do, do not cause undue stress to animals. Wimbledon Pest Control for Penthouse Loft - SW19, Wimbledon, 18th March 2021

Pestforce Pest Control Wimbledon recently attended to a lovely lady customer with an adorable newborn baby. They had just come home from hospital, it was their first night back at home but were disturbed by hearing horrendous noises in the loft. The property was a block of purpose built flats, and the customer occupied the top floor flat. The following day, she couldn't get wifi working and her tv stopped showing freeview. These electrical and data problems, coupled with the noises in the loft gave her enough concern to call for our Wimbledon pest control services. We attended the same day and the lady was very distressed. Our local Wimbledon pest controllers inspected the loft and found evidence of a large rodent (due to the size of the droppings). At this point, we were unable to identify the pest conclusively but expected to be either a rat or a squirrel. On further pest inspection of the loft space, our Wimbledon pest experts identified significant damage to the coaxial tv cable and the communication cables. They were all gnawed and chewed. This explains why the internet and tv had lost signal. Our Wimbledon rat control team laid 10 traps in the roof space and advised the client not to access the area at any time. We returned 24 hours later to find two adult rats caught in traps. The rats were removed and all traps remain in place for a following seven days. The customer has since advised that the noises have ceased and we will be removing the traps shortly. At this point, the customer will be able to get a tradesman to fix the damaged wiring. Rats can cause so many problems, which we in the industry refer to as the three D's: Damage, Distress and Disease. Wimbledon Rat Control for Bin Stores - SW19, Wimbledon, 9th March 2021

Our Wimbledon rat control team were attending an ongoing service contract recently for bin stores at a communal flats in Wimbledon. Residents had seen mice, rats and rodents getting into the bin stores via the louvre slats in the door. Our Wimbledon rat controllers weld meshed the louvre vents. This allowed airflow, but also prevented rodent ingress into the bin store area.

Rat Control in Wimbledon for Communal Bin Stores - SW19, Wimbledon, 5th March 2021

Pestforce Pest Control Wimbledon were recently called to a block of flats where residents reported damage to the vehicle engines of parked cars of a block of flats where rats were seen eating from communal bins. On arrival, our Wimbledon rat control team saw rats frequenting the bins and running to the gas meters. The appeared to be entering the structure of the building through this area. Over the span of three weeks, we carried out treatment to reduce the offending rat population, and completed remedial works to concrete the gas meters and prevent further rat ingress into the building. We also gave advice to the client, who has had new bins installed which close to prevent food source being exposed, thus not attracting rodents anymore!

Wimbledon Rat Control Solves Noises Heard Through Bathroom Ceiling Roof - SW19, Wimbledon, 2nd March 2021

Pestforce Pest Control Wimbledon were called by a customer reporting noises heard in their downstairs toilet ceiling. The customer thought it was mice. On inspection, our Wimbledon pest controllers found clear evidence of rat activity including rat droppings and damaged wiring. Our experts traced the problem from the external adjacent wall to the downstairs toilet where we found clear evidence of rats burrowing under the side extension external walls (lintel) and following drainage pipe work as it passes under the building's fabric. Our Wimbledon pest control team treated the pertinent areas with rodenticide inside the ceiling void. A plan is now in place for us to carry out building remedial works to expose the burrow and seal using appropriate materials to prevent further rat ingress as a long term solution.
