Common Pests in Victoria
Rats - a massive problems in all areas, not just the Victoria. The way we live, the rubbish that is a welcome food source to rats, all contribute to their numbers swelling. Prolific breeders, their numbers can swell within weeks! But, as well as being a nuisance they also carry a bacteria that when humans come into contact with it, can make us very ill.
Pigeons - they can cause a huge amount of damage to buildings when the roost and nest. Rather than having expensive repair bills on a regular basis, why not invest in bird proofing equipment instead? These methods effectively and humanely stop birds from roosting on buildings.

If caught early enough, some shop bought remedies and deep cleaning can be effective but all too often, we do not realise there is a problem until the problem has become sufficiently ingrained so that we notice, for example, seeing a rat during the day, notice fleas on the soft furnishing or waking up in the morning with a row of bites on us, indicating we may be sharing our bed with bedbugs. Victoria Bed Bug Control, Couple suffering from bedbugs in their home in Victoria, 2nd April 2021
Pestforce Pest Control Victoria were called out to a property in the centre of Victoria. A couple were getting bitten in the night and left with small marks on their bodies. All the signs of a biting insect. Our team booked in a convenient time to carry out a bedroom pest inspection. During our inspection, bed bugs could be found and the client had a photograph of a bed bug found. We treated two bedrooms and the sofa in the lounge with insecticidal spray concentrating on bed frames wall floor junctions and other furniture in the bedrooms as well as the sofa frame feet an base and surrounding area in the lounge. We always inform our customers not to vacuum or clean treated floor surfaces for 7-14 days following treatment. We followed up with the couple and they were so happy to be bedbug free.
Victoria Pigeon Control After Pigeons Fouling on Porch - SW1, Victoria, 26th March 2021
A customer contacted Pestforce Pest Control Victoria, who had been having pigeons sitting above her front door on the soil stack pipe that crosses above horizontally. This was a really simple thing to solve. We very quickly installed 5m avipoint bird spikes on the soil pipe to stop the pigeons sitting in this area. Our Victoria pest controllers have also been able to guarantee the customer will not longer have pigeons fouling on her porch entrance any longer.
Victoria Rat Control for Rats in Butchers Shop - SW1, Victoria, 17th March 2021
Our Victoria pest control team attended a flat above a butchers shop that were reporting what they thought were rat problems in their ceiling. On a detailed and methodical pest inspection of the whole building, we quickly established the cause of the rat problem was the poor waste management from the butchery unit. They were leaving food waste and general waste in a horrendous state in the rear of the building. This had encouraged rat activity and allowed them the opportunity to gnaw through the building fabric (external concrete wall), around pipework and enter the building. The simple actions we have taken were to advise the butchers to take immediate steps to clean up their act or risk the repercussions from the local environmental health department, and our Victoria pest control team sealed the breach in the building wall to stop rats entering the building. Hopefully the tenants will not suffer rats any longer.
Victoria Pest Control for Rats and Drainage Flies - SW1, Victoria, 11th March 2021
Our Victoria pest controllers recently attended to a rat job. Our team member Alison attended to investigate a rat problem in a basement flat. On investigation, evidence of rat activity in the pantry area of the flat was discovered. Alison was able to trace the source of the problem to the drainage system where she found clear rat dropping smear marks around pipes, and soil and stone debris in the drainage channels causing blockages. Based on this information, we were able to get our drainage contractor to attend promptly who have now carried out CCTV drainage investigations and confirmed rats were migrating in through the drainage system from the main trunk sewer, before entering the building via a redundant drainage manhole chamber. The other issue they found with CCTV was a massive infestation of drainage flies. To resolve all of these problems, the drainage system has now been service cleaned, all debris removed, which has in turn helped resolve the drainage fly problems. The redundant pipe runs have been capped to prevent further rodent access to the property and a trapping programme is now underway to catch and humanely remove any remaining rats that are active in the building following this drainage work. If we are lucky, we are hoping that no rats remain in the building at the time we installed the proofing interventions, if not we will catch and remove them in a humane way with traps already in place.
