Emergency pest control visit for mice in apartment in Chiswick, W4 - January 2022

Pestforce Pest Control Chiswick received a text in the morning the other day from a local gentleman in Chiswick who had found mouse droppings in their apartment. We offered the customer some simple advice and scheduled them in for a rodent survey of their property for that morning. We found obvious evidence of mouse activity with new mouse droppings found in the kitchen area. To provide a solution to the infestation we put in place a specific 3 visit riddance programme making use of non-toxic rodent baits and mouse traps. The customer called to say he could see the wasp nest in the guttering above the first floor bedroom window. Roosting pigeons in Chiswick, W4, June 2021

Pestforce Pest Control Chiswick attended three top floor flats, each having a balcony who were having issues with pigeons roositng on the balcony and leading edges. They had started to create nests and in turn were causing all sorts of horrendous pigeon mess on the walls and surfaces below.  We carried out a full environmental service clean using specialist biocides to neutralise all the common pathogens and bacteria associated with the problem, including psittacosis (the disease associated with guano). This left the area clean and safe. After the pigeon guano clean, as a solution to exclude the pigeons we have installed a pigeon net over the top floor balcony and additionally spiking on some other roosting areas including flue and soil pipes.

Chiswick Squirrel Control for Loft Space - W4, Chiswick, May 2021

Pestforce Pest Control Chiswick were contacted by a gentleman enquiring about our squirrel control in Chiswick. He had an issue with squirrels entering his property and he mentioned hearing them in his loft space. We carried out a next day pest survey to help identify the exact problem and any solutions to this annoying pest problem. Scaffolding works were ongoing at the property which we used to help identify from the back of the property. The internall loft hatch was too small so we were unable to fully inspect the loft area. Despite this, we were able to identify multiple ingression points. During our visit, it was unsuitable to deploy any traps or treatment. This is due to the reliance and vulnerability of the inaccessible juvenile squirrels in the drey. It would be inhumane to remove the adult squirrels when the young are yet unable to leave the drey. We advised at this stage to postpone treatment until the young squirrels are able to leave the drey. We estimate this to be no sooner than mid-April to May. Once the young have vacated we can install external traps and remove the adult squirrels. Once removed we then recommend a competent roofer accesses and seals the hole in the roof.

Chiswick Rat Control For Terraced Houses - W4, Chiswick, April 2021

Our Chiswick pest controllers were called to a house, part of row of terraced houses, all of which were reporting the same problem with active rats running between the gardens from house to house. Our Chiswick pest controllers have attended and addressed this problem for the entire row of five houses as a collective. Initially, our Chiswick rat control team have given some simple advice including refraining from feeding wildlife and birds to remove the potential food sources and be extra vigilant with their rubbish and waste. In turn, our Chiswick pest controllers have advised two of the houses to carry out some basic environmental actions including removing unwanted items from their gardens and trimming back shrubs to make the environment less suitable to harbour vermin. Additionally we have installed locked robust baiting stations in each garden to reduce the rat population affecting these houses. Pigeons were roosting in the guttering and leading edges and were fouling on the stock/products waiting to be taken into the store at the back of the unit. Chiswick Pest Control For Communal Flat Bin Stores - W4, Chiswick,March 2021

Our Chiswick pest controllers have been continuing an ongoing Chiswick pest control service contract for some bin stores at a communal flats. Rats and mice kept getting into the bin stores, climbing in through the louvre door vents. As part of our comprehensive Chiswick pest control treatment, we weld meshed all the louvre vent doors to still allow airflow, but also prevent ingress into the bin store area. This was a more fool-proof solution that is sure to have a long lasting result for the local tenants.

Garage Mice in Chiswick - February 2020

We attended a property last Monday that had been suffering damage to materials and food stored in the detached garage.  The property was opposite the local park.  Apparently the client had called pest control every year for the same issue.  Each time baiting was done using rodenticides by different pest control providers, which seemed to get rid of the issue for a few months.  When we arrived we surveyed the garage and promptly found the most obvious entry point was under the garage doors.  Otherwise the garage structure was in great condition and presented no other ingress points.  The gap under the garage door was between 10-20mm all the way along.  Mice can potentially gain entry via any hole or gap over 6-7mm and easily gnaw most materials to enlarge a hole that isn’t quite big enough, so the door gap was ideal. We suspected the mice were Wood (Field) mice due to the location of the property in relation to the park.  Therefore we discretely placed small traps in the garage rather than using rodenticide, which had a risk of being passed on to non-targets via secondary poisoning through the mice.  This is best practice and is in line with CRRU guidance.  As a long-term solution and as part of the Integrated Pest Management (IPM) approach we supplied and fitted a garage threshold rubber door bar the following day to seal the excessive gap and prevent further ingress.  We also caught a Wood mouse with the tell tale white belly the when we came back the next day.  The door seal has been in place for over 10 days.  We did a follow up visit today and found no further mice in traps and no evidence of any activity from mice in the garage.  All traps have been removed and the client is very happy - especially with the Rodent Proofing solution.  Hopefully this ongoing mouse issue is now properly resolved. Guano Clean in Chiswick - 2019

Pestforce were called out to help restore and protect some newly fitted solar panels recently, the pigeons had started to nest under the panels and foul all over them and the gardens below. We carefully removed and dispatched the offending birds humanely, then proceeded to clear all nesting materials and guano (pigeon poo) using a specialist biocide to neutralise bacteria and pathogens associated with the birds. The solar panel system void was then sealed using a specialist purpose made solar panel proofing system. The proofing system includes mesh and fixings that have been manufactured to stop birds from breaching and gaining access to the solar panel void, ensuring they are protected from the damage birds cause. The finished product looks great and the customer is over the moon with the outcome of the installation. A job well done!
